Guidelines on screening in the field of oncology

The CCM, the national centre for the prevention and control of diseases has appointed Laziosanità, the agency responsible for public health, the task of publishing a report regarding the best guidelines on screening in the field of oncology. The objective of the project are to carry out a methodical research of the guidelines published and a summary of the suggestions indicated in the report and in addition, to obtain an evaluation regarding the quality of the guidelines.
In this phase of the project there is a need to share the results obtained with the scientific community and to receive their comments and input which will help understand the scientific reasons for the unambiguity and the underlying disagreement among the guidelines.
The information received will therefore help bring the guidelines suggested by the Italians into the context of the European council and make them a reference point for the programmes of screening in Italy.
In particular they will work out useful to foresee the obstacles that prevent these suggestions to be followed and to point out why the professionals follow other different ones.
The national Screening Observatory facilitates the implementation of this phase of the project by contacting the representatives of the most principle scientific societies in order to gather information regarding comments and in order to promote a discussion among professionals.
